MONTANA – As election day approaches, the Montana Senate race is attracting significant attention. Recent reports have raised questions regarding candidate Tim Sheehy's military discharge status.

NBC National News reported that Sheehy's medical records contradict his claim of being medically discharged from the Navy. Sheehy, a former Navy SEAL, has consistently stated his discharge was due to injuries sustained during service. However, NBC obtained a two-page document lacking any medical condition forcing his departure from the military.

In response, the Sheehy campaign stated, "Tim Sheehy was honorably discharged from the Navy after being declared medically unfit to continue to serve as a Navy SEAL in 2014. After Tim left active duty in 2014, he was then in the Navy Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) until his honorable discharge in 2019." The statement goes on to say, "It's appalling to watch Jon Tester and his liberal allies -- including certain media outlets -- working overtime to tear down a combat veteran who created a successful veteran-led Montana business and Montana jobs protecting our communities and public lands from wildfires after valiantly serving as a Navy SEAL."

In the Senate race, while Sheehy has attracted high-profile figures to Montana, Tester opts for a different approach. Tester explained his campaign strategy, saying, "I've left all the political surrogates out of my campaign and I've done that every cycle that I have run, why, because this election is about me, not about somebody I serve in the Senate with. It's about me, it's about Montana, it's about who is going to best represent Montana in Washington, D.C. and take Montana values back there. That is what I focus on. I don't want to focus on national stuff. Montana is the greatest state in the greatest country that has ever existed and it's there for a good reason because we have elected good people to both the state and federal level to keep this state where it is and I want that to be what we are focused on, how Montana is gonna move into the future. Are we going to move in a way that I grew up here. We need to give that same opportunity to our kids. Or is it going to move in a different direction and make this a playground for the rich, I certainly don't want to see that. I think Montana is a great state and we need to keep it a great state."

This Sunday, October 27, 2024, Sheehy and Texas Representative Ronny Jackson will hold a rally in Great Falls at 2:00 p.m. The location will be given to those who RSVP, and space is limited. RSVP at saveamericagreatfalls.rsvpify.com
